CHAPTER 14
day. Sometimes, a twist, or an unexpected situation comes up (both a crisis or an opportunity), but it’s really about connecting the dots. It’s so important to take the time to reflect, rest and look back on your path. Review pivotal mo- ments and examine the hurdles you’ve faced and the growth spots.
When you examine your blind spots, you will recognize this is an area that you need to improve. For some, acknowledging the blind spots is a big step. They may not want to look at them, but maybe one day they will.
What can we learn from your years working in HR?
It’s crucial to see where your passion and heart lie. We’re human, and we are allowed to change our minds. That being said, it’s natural that people get stuck in a rut. Ironically, people will stay stuck in the same position year after year. They will complain about being in that position. But when presented with op- portunities for growth or switching careers, there’s too much fear.
It’s so important that people know themselves. They need to understand what brings them a sense of fulfillment. It takes bravery to go after exactly what you want. But it also takes having that clarity to know what you want to dol
My experiences allowed me to connect the dots of different careers. It’s not where I am right now; it’s where I see myself in 10 or 15 years. But it’s not just where I see myself; it’s also where I see my community and friends with whom I’m aligning.
I want to connect and help as many people as possible to know themselves. I’d like them to connect more to their spirituality.
Where do you think this desire to form that community comes from?
I switched from school to school to school as a child and teenager. I went to six different schools. I found myself bopping around into different cliques of friends and meeting people. Some people can be just brutally mean to new kids. I didn’t have any community or connection around myself as I came into these new schools. But at the same time, I wasn’t in a position where we had the internet to help connect me before meeting these people at those times.
