SORRY, WE’RE NOT HIRING ANY VISIONARIES TODAY
I started when I was 45. Once I cracked that code, it was a huge revelation. So I can speak French now.
Then I thought about the mechanical things I had never tried. So, before the winter, I serviced my mother-in-law’s snowblower this fall. I changed the car- buretor in my car. I never would have imagined that. It took me about four hours to do it. For sure, it pissed me off when I saw the guy in the YouTube video do it in 15 minutes. But now that I’ve done it once, I know it won’t take four hours the next time!
We often tell ourselves disempowering stories and act on them, which is worse.
I have never taken a statistics course, yet I had a successful career at Statistics Canada for 20 years.
You could say I was not a traditional civil servant.
