SORRY, WE’RE NOT HIRING ANY VISIONARIES TODAY
In other words, a Virtual Assistant (VA) is Very Andrew (VA).
Regarding Kolbe scores and Clifton strengths: while these things are useful, they
have a few flaws:
• It’s impossible to objectively rate yourself in any of these categories. You need an outside person to properly evaluate you.
• No measurement system can fully capture the complexity of human personality, viewpoints, temperaments and psyche.
• While these systems can help you start thinking about the ways that you think and act, self-knowledge and self-awareness is more organic than taking a few tests. It requires months, if not years, of self-analysis and self-introspection and more importantly, asking others (friends, co-workers, etc.) their objective opinions of you.
While there are potentially hundreds of different personality types and traits, I think people do fall into the two main categories:
The Visionaries — These are the dreamers and big thinkers, the ones who do things differently and are not interested in the details. They prefer working for themselves rather than others, which they find confining. Only a small minority of people are in this category but the world needs them to move it forward.
The Executioners — This is everybody else: the common workers, the ones who take the vision of the Visionaries and get it done. This obviously describes me and represents the vast majority of people, given the fact that most people spend their lives working for someone else and not running their own company.
There are many groups and subgroups within these two categories but I think everyone would fall into one of these two types.
To sum up:
The Visionaries are pie-in-the-sky thinkers.
The Executioners want to know what’s in the pie, how it’s made, who it’s for, and how it’s going to be sold, distributed and marketed.
