SORRY, WE’RE NOT HIRING ANY VISIONARIES TODAY
3. Quick Start: This category focuses on an individual’s willingness to take risks and embrace change. As you can infer, those with a high Quick Start are more comfortable with change and uncertainty. They are looking for new ideas and approaches. Those with a low Quick Start indicator feel much more comfortable in a consistent and predictable environment.
4. Implementor: The final element indicates how an individual deals with the physical world and manual tasks. They want hands-on and physical ac- tivities. Those who score low may prefer intellectual or non-manual tasks.
The most intriguing thing about the Kolbe Index is that you can’t score 1 or 10 on everything. There is no “ideal” score because the test recognizes everyone has unique strengths and abilities in each category.
I took a $55 (US) Kolbe test and considered it an investment in my personal development. I answered the questions honestly, and the test took less than half an hour to complete. Within a few moments, I received an email with my results.
The insights it provided were most illuminating. I am still coming to terms with what they indicated. I wound up with a Kolbe score of 4/2/10/2.
I made my brother, who is two years younger, take a Kolbe test. His results were vastly different from mine. 8/8/1/5.
After more than five decades, we decided to sit down and talk about our differ- ences and how they played out in our careers.
Another warning: it’s a massive amount of words, but it is a real-life testament to the power of knowing oneself.
