SORRY, WE’RE NOT HIRING ANY VISIONARIES TODAY
The skill set we possess and the type of work we are capable of aren’t in de- mand most of the time. The vast majority of people like the status quo. They like it when things are predictable. But, as we all know, that’s not how life (or the weather!) works.
The truth is that most companies hire a visionary, usually for the chief execu- tive role. How many companies could tap the visionaries found in their ranks? Of course, the ironic thing about being a visionary is that you may find your- self at odds with your co-workers, boss, spouse and sometimes even yourself.
Full disclosure: balancing the desire to make something as an entrepreneur versus fostering change is something I wrestle with every day. I drive my family crazy, and sometimes, I admit, I drive myself crazy. But it’s who I am, and I won’t fight things. I know in my heart I am on the right path. This book is just another example of my desire to affect change. If you’ve read this far, thank you.
It is my hope that this book will start you on a path to better knowing yourself, questioning everything, and embracing the gift of visionary thinking.
